About Us
The Intercultural Drop-in centre aims to address integration needs of migrants living in the Tallaght area. The Intercultural drop-in centre was established in 2003. It is a first point of contact and support for individuals and families from new communities moving into the Tallaght area. The centre provides a safe environment for people to meet. It supports them in making links with local organisations and services, and provides English language tuition to facilitate participation in Irish society.
The Intercultural drop-in centre is located in The prefab buildings at the corner of Mountain Park road and Old Bawn road (see map below). It opens five mornings per week from 9.30-2pm.
Funding for the centre comes from the Office of Office for the Promotion of Migrant Integration via South Dublin County Council. Since early 2010 the project is managed by South Dublin County Partnership (formerly Dodder Valley Partnership).

Volunteer With Us
We are always seeking to recruit volunteer language and literacy tutors for the ever increasing numbers of clients who use our centre. Our clients are among the most marginalised of migrants (the majority being women) who need English language and literacy skills just to survive in their new host country. Our centre operates an open-door language and orientation service on the five weekdays from 9.30 am til 2pm.
This volunteer experience would be of interest to anyone who wishes to be involved in
a valuable, challenging and rewarding experience.
Pedagogically, the centre offers interesting insights in this field; We have designed a tailor-made portfolio and we are also beginning to explore the use of ipads with pre and non-literate learners. Compassion and enthusiasm far outweigh experience, and materials and ongoing training is provided.
